We review your background, any previous anatomy and physiology learning, and your readiness for the practical parts of the programme.
Online foundations
Online study, live tutorials, case learning and preparation for your clinical training.
Clinical preparation
Safety, contraindications, consent, infection prevention, equipment and treatment planning.
Newry clinical block
Around ten full days of supervised clinical education in Newry, delivered as an equivalent block of practical training.
Supervised cases
Complete supervised treatments, case records, feedback and reflection as you build practical experience.
Portfolio & assessment
Your written work, practical skills and professional evidence must meet the required standard before completion.

Before practising independently, you will need to check the insurance, premises and professional requirements that apply where you plan to work.
What you will learn
Science, safety, judgement and clinical competence.
This is not a quick certificate course. The programme is designed to build the knowledge, judgement and supervised practical competence needed for responsible practice.
Scientific & professional foundations
Gastrointestinal anatomy and physiology, bowel function and motility, common pathology, medicines, evidence literacy, law and professional scope.
Assessment, safety & treatment planning
Consultation, red flags, contraindications, referral, consent, safeguarding, infection prevention, equipment, emergencies and aftercare.
Supervised clinical practice
Room preparation, treatment delivery, monitoring, adaptation, closure, records, reflection, case evidence and independent assessment.
Travel to Newry
Designed to reduce unnecessary travel.
The current plan is to complete most study online first, followed by a concentrated clinical block in Newry rather than asking learners to make repeated short trips.

Planning note: clinical and final assessment dates remain provisional until supervision, clinic capacity and independent assessment arrangements are confirmed.

Programme status: the AHLI Colon Hydrotherapy Practice Programme is currently a working programme under development. It is not currently represented as externally accredited, regulated, NFQ/RQF awarded, CNHC-approved or internationally recognised. Applicants will receive the current approval position before enrolment.
